How You Can Book Events Through Digital Wallets

Paying with a digital wallet is the standard for online ticket booking in Nepal. Cash on delivery is not an option for digital tickets. You must pay upfront. Here is exactly how to do it for the two biggest platforms.

You do not always need a third-party website like k garira? to book tickets as the gigs may not be hosted there. Nepal's major digital wallets now act as standalone event platforms. They have dedicated sections where you browse, book, and pay in a single location.

Option 1: Booking via eSewa

eSewa is the oldest digital wallet in Nepal. It integrates ticket booking in Nepal directly into its home screen. This removes the need to switch between a browser and the app.

The Process:

1. Open the App: Log in to your eSewa mobile application.
2. Locate the Section: Scroll down to the "New Services" or "Popular Services" area. Look for the "Events" or "Entertainment" icon.
3. Browse Events: Tap the icon to see a list of available concerts, movies, and festivals.
4. Select Tickets: Click on your desired event. Choose your ticket category and quantity.
5. Verify Details: Your name and phone number usually autofill from your profile. Check that these are correct.
6. Confirm Payment: Click "Proceed." Enter your MPIN or use fingerprint authentication. The ticket appears instantly in the app.

Option 2: Booking via Khalti

Khalti is a direct competitor in the ticketing space. It is known for its voting platform for reality shows and its robust event ticketing system.

The Process:

1. Open the App: Log in to your Khalti account.
2. Find the Icon: Look for the "Events" icon on the main dashboard. It is usually visible without scrolling.
3. Choose Your Event: Browse the list. Khalti often features exclusive events or voting passes.
4. Book Now: Tap the event banner. Select the "Book Now" or "Buy Ticket" button.
5. Select Quantity: Choose the number of tickets. The total price updates automatically.
6. Pay: Click "Pay." The funds deduct from your Khalti balance immediately.
7. Access Ticket: Go to the "Transactions" or "My Bookings" section in the menu to view your QR code.

Other Payment Options

Mobile Banking (Fonepay)

Most Nepali banks support Fonepay. You select this option. A QR code appears on your screen. You open your mobile banking app. You scan the code. You confirm the payment with your fingerprint or PIN. This deducts funds directly from your bank account.

International Cards

Some platforms accept Visa or Mastercard. This is useful for tourists or Nepalis living abroad who want to buy tickets for friends at home. Check the specific event for this option.

Verification at the Venue

You have your ticket. Now you need to enter the venue. The entry process is strict. Organizers use technology to validate every person.

The QR Code is Key

Your digital ticket contains a unique QR code. This is a square barcode. It holds encrypted data about your purchase. Security staff at the gate use a specialized scanner app. They scan your code to validate your entry.

Do Not Share Your Code

The scanner accepts each code only once. This is critical. If you share a screenshot with a friend and they enter first, your code becomes invalid. The scanner will show "Already Used" when you arrive. You will be denied entry. Keep your ticket private until you reach the gate. Do not post photos of your QR code on social media.

Bring Identification

Venues sometimes require ID verification. This prevents black market reselling. Carry your citizenship card, license, or student ID. The name on your ID should match the name on the ticket. This is common for VIP areas or age-restricted events.

Offline Access

Internet at venues is often slow. Thousands of people use the same tower. Do not rely on loading your email at the gate. Take a screenshot of your ticket before you leave home. Save it to your gallery. This ensures you have the ticket even without data.

Refunds and Cancellations

Events sometimes face cancellations. Weather, technical issues, or artist health issues cause changes. Understanding the policy protects your wallet.

Organizer Cancellations

If the organizer cancels the event, you receive a refund. k garira? manages this process. They typically refund the ticket price to your original payment method. If you paid via eSewa, the money returns to your eSewa wallet. This process takes 3 to 7 business days.

Processing Fees

Note that platform fees or processing charges are often non-refundable. A small percentage (usually around 3%) might be deducted to cover banking costs. This is standard practice in the industry.

Personal Cancellations

If you change your mind, getting a refund is difficult. Most tickets are non-refundable unless the event itself is cancelled. Organizers use the ticket revenue to pay for the venue and artists. They generally do not offer refunds for personal reasons. Check the specific terms on the event page before buying.

Common Challenges and Solutions

Network Timeouts

Internet in Nepal is unstable. If your connection drops during payment, do not pay again immediately. Check your bank statement or wallet balance first. If money was deducted but you received no ticket, contact customer support. Provide your transaction ID. They will manually generate your ticket.

Server Overload

Popular events like the Nepal Premier League (NPL) attract thousands of users at once. The website might slow down. Be patient. Do not refresh the page repeatedly during the payment processing screen. Refreshing leads to double charges. Wait for the server to respond.

Unreceived Tickets

Check your spam or promotions folder. Automated ticket emails often end up there. If you still cannot find it, log in to your platform and find the “My Bookings” or “My Tickets” section. If this doesn’t work out, you can always consult the customer service team for any help.

The Best Security Practices

Avoid Phishing: Only buy tickets from the official k garira? website or app. Do not click suspicious links on Facebook or WhatsApp that promise "discounted" tickets. Scammers create fake sites to steal your banking credentials.

Verify the Event: Ensure the event is legitimate. Read reviews. Check the organizer's social media pages.

Secure Your Wallet: Do not share your MPIN or OTP with anyone. Support staff will never ask for your PIN.

FAQs

1. How do I load money into eSewa or Khalti?

Ans: You load funds using mobile banking. Open your bank app. Look for "Load Wallet" or "eSewa/Khalti". Enter your ID and amount. Confirm. You also visit a local "Cash Point" agent. Most local grocery stores in Kathmandu offer this service. You give them cash; they send funds to your app.

2. Do I need to print my ticket?

Ans: No. You show the digital ticket on your smartphone. The scanner reads the screen. Ensure your screen brightness is high. However, printing a backup is wise if your phone battery is unreliable.

3. What happens if I accidentally delete my ticket email?

Ans: Your purchase history retains all your active tickets. You download them again from there.

4. Can I transfer my ticket to a friend?

Ans: This depends on the specific event policy. Some events allow transfers. Others link the ticket strictly to the buyer's name. Check the "Terms and Conditions" on the event page. If transfer is allowed, send the PDF file to your friend. Do not use the ticket yourself after sending it.

5. How far in advance should I book?

Ans: Book as soon as sales open. Popular events in Kathmandu sell out within hours. Early booking often secures a lower "Early Bird" price. Waiting until the last minute risks sold-out shows or higher prices.
